Federal Government Provides $4 Million to OTRU and Partners for Quitting Smoking and Vaping Initiatives The federal government is investing more than $4 million in two projects led by OTRU. Both projects were announced by Julie Dabrusin (MP for Toronto-Danforth) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health during National Non-Smoking Week. The first project—All Together Now!—will develop a social marketing and smoking cessation initiative in collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society , Egale Canada and members of LGBTQI2S+ communities in Toronto, Thunder Bay and Montreal. The second project will seek to understand how youth and young adults (aged 16 to 29) become addicted to nicotine and what can be done to help them quit vaping by developing and implementing effective interventions for vaping cessation. Specifically, results from our Youth and Young Adult Longitudinal survey, our Point-of-Sale study and Focus Group study are discussed. Quit Vaping Research Study With funding from Health Canada, we are conducting a research study to develop online tools to support young people in Canada who may wish to stop vaping. We are inviting young people ages 16 to 21 to co-design these tools with us.
